i can't believe i'm actually alive, but i made it to lithuania! this city is literally a dream. it's actually pretty warm and way humid! it is what i picture when i think of an old european country.
alex and my dad dropped me off at the airport in vegas super early wednesday morning. i met the other girl i travelled with, shelbi, at the gate. we left from vegas to go to chicago and that flight was good. i got the middle seat and was in between two weird guys. but it's whatevs. from chicago we headed to vienna. that was about a 9 hour flight. i tried to sleep most of the way but i don't know how well that worked without having my mom there to sleep on. we had dinner and breakfast on the plane. for dinner we had some gross pasta (idk what was even in it), a baby salad, a roll, and some water. and for breakfast we had a ham and cheese sandwich. the plane ride was okay though and it was nice that i was travelling with shelbi.
we landed in vienna and had to go through passport control and security. when i went through security they pulled me off to the side to do an extra search, which is cool and all, until homegirl stuck her hand too far down my pants. it was SO weird. but then it was over and it was cool and we were on our way. our last flight was an hour and a half and i just slept the whole way.
when we got to vilnius we got our bags and our local coordinator dima was waiting for us at the curb. he picked us up and then we went and exchanged money at the local bank. after we exchanged money, dima wanted to take us to eat. so we went to mcdonalds! it was totally different from any american mcdonalds. it was actually way nice. then dima took the long way home and drove us around the city center. it is the old towne of the city and it is seriously so pretty. everything is so green here! the streets are cobblestone and most of them are one way. it really is so cool here. and i think it will only get better once this jetlag wears off.
tonight we're going to the school for a couple hours and then we'll go back in to the city to explore and have dinner. and then we'll probably die because we're so tired. i'm super excited for these next 4 months and i'm so happy i'm here.
xo,
ann
